According to FBI Data, "Crime is on the Rise" in the Bay Area. 11 out of the 15 largest cities such as Oakland and San Francisco have steadily increased in number of "Violent" and "Property" crimes. With greater and greater affluence in the area due to the tech boom, many residents, new and old, are with more wealth and valuables. Additionally, local laws have reduced penalties for many non-violent crimes and even some violent crimes so that local prisons are less overcrowded than years before. The combination of these new developments has created a unique opportunity for criminals to capitialize on.
